Just a stitch or two!

Yesterday, Kami had surgery. So many people have called to check on her so I thought I would post a little update. After several years of migraines and several months of ear and face pain, the Doctors finally found what they hope is the reason for alot of her pain. After a CT scan it was found that she had substantial calcifications on the nerves and ligaments on the left side of her neck. They believe that this is caused by trauma. Hmmm....knowing Kami the way that we do that is a "no brainer". Anyway, they planned on cutting down a small bone at the base of her skull called the styloid process and removing the calcification from the ligaments and nerves. Once they got in there they decided that it wasn't the styloid process after all that was causing the problems but a ligament that was about an inch and 1/2 long. When they removed it they said it was as hard as a rock. (not pliable like it should be) So, the Dr. is pretty convinced that having something comparable to a rock in her neck is the culprit of the problems. We are keeping our fingers crossed! She went in to surgery with a migraine and came out without one so that is a good sign. Usually pain medicine doesn't help her migraines so we know it wasn't just because she was on pain meds.

The really good news is that the incision is much smaller than she had first been told- that was a huge relief! She will be out of work for a week or two recovering. Even though it doesn't look so bad on the outside I guess the inside is pretty swollen from digging around in there. I'n going to kidnap her for a couple days while her hubby is at work. We're planning on catching up on lots of movies this week!

3 Men I Call Dad

I'm the luckiest girl alive!
I have 3 dads!

My Father whom I have always referred to as "Daddy Besig" gave me life. After I turned 3 I didn't live with him but he always made a point to be part of my life. I remember all the fun trips I got to go on with him when I was little. As I became an adult, we managed to see each other more often and he has made it a point to keep track of my kids and remember their birthdays even though we live so far away and we don't get to see each other very often. He gave me a little sister that is now one of my very best friends! I'm so grateful that we have been able to keep in touch over the years.

My Dad who raised me has been a huge blessing in my life. I don't know what I would have done without him! He always accepted me as his own child and didn't treat me like a step child. He has helped me with so many things over the years and has always been there for me. He gave me 3 of the most amazing brothers that I wouldn't trade for anything! He has been such a wonderful example to me and I want to thank him for letting me be his daughter.

My father in law is my 3rd dad. I'm lucky that I honestly love my father in law.I've heard so many people say that they don't really feel close to their inlaws but I do and always have. He is amazing. He raised my husband to be a good dad like he is. He is one of the best grandpa's I have ever met! I know that if I ever have a question or concern he will tell it like it is. I can always count on him to be honest and tell me what he really thinks. I'm so glad that I have him in my life!

Just wanted to let all my "DADS" know how much they mean to me. Each of them has touched my life in different ways and I know I am a better person because of the influence they have had on my life. Happy Father's Day!

Beach Bums

Well, we actually went on a vacation this last weekend. We haven't gone anywhere in such a LONG time! Rod, I and the boys went to Newport Beach (Kami wasn't too happy about missing her first family vacation but she is going to come next time.) It was so beautiful there! I could have done nothing but sit on the beach but we did manage to do some other things. All the guys got longboards and skateboarded down the sidewalks of the Pacific Coast Highway and the boardwalk at the beach.

Rod took a stab at snorkeling but he had a bum mask so that wasn't that successful. We went to lots of shops and just hung out. It was really nice to just get away for awhile together.
